He's apparently quite popular with locals as he always uses money wired from his possessive parents to support small businesses, such as funneling funds into his friend's boba shop. His family is never caught aware of this since they don't believe Ashmine's suited to manage himself.
Even when he tries to sever ties with his family, a peculiar essence makes it all in vain. Passed down from his ancestry, Ashmine is the sole inheritor of a primordial agent that manifests every 30 days, tethering to his body until he acquires hedonism, which only then causes the entity to subside. This phenomenon leaves him understandably embarrassed, making it hard for him to stay attached to others.
